Thrills and spills of country living

The spill is that our septic line is backed up again (we dealt with it back in December too).  So, we are making do today so it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.  I have a guy scheduled to come out tomorrow.  Hopefully it will be as easy as it was last time!

The THRILL was that last night just after midnight I couldn't sleep and I heard something go across our deck.  We regularly have raccoons and things so I didn't think much of it.  The next time I heard it go across Snickers went wild and so I looked out to see what it was..................  it was a BOBCAT!  Snickers had by that time woken Greg and I turned on the flood light out our bedroom window and we watched it meander through the yard.  You don't get to see that everyday!  But I worry about our animals.  The neighbor has a trappers license so he may try to trap it.  I almost think it might be living in our willow tree which is mostly hollow inside. For about the last week when I let Snickers outside to go potty before we go to sleep she ends up running around that tree barking like she has treed something.  We will see what happens!

Hoopfest

Sarah driving to the basket! Showing some good defense! Hoopfest was awesome! All of downtown Spokane is shut down, 40 blocks are set up with basketball courts. The girls did great. They didn't win any games but they played well for their first time. It is street ball so it was rough and scrappy play! By the last game Sarah was not afraid to push a little and play rough! It was so fun to watch. I already can't wait for next year! Then we went to the lake with my mom and dad. It was nice to sit on the beach and relax. I even got a book read! I don't let myself read much any more. I just end up reading all day and never get anything done. So it is only rarely that I let myself start a book. Anyway we had lots of fun! And the weather at the lake was perfect. Unfortunately though it hasn't been until just a week ago so the water was very cold! But Sarah said that if I jumped off the dock with her she would try waterskiing again. So I did it, and Sarah tried waterskiing but she only tried once and that was it she had enough. Maybe next year! Isn't this picture awesome! Sarah is playing with a sparkler at the lake. I hope you all are having a happy 4th of July!

Hoopfest

Hoopfest in Spokane!!

We are headed to Hoopfest next weekend!  We are good friends with a family that lives and breathes basketball!  They have taken teams for the last couple of years and this year they asked us if Sarah wanted to play on a team!  It should be lots of fun.  It is a huge thing, there are 6,600 teams from below Sarah's age to adults.  Next week I will try to post the link to the brackets so you can follow them along and see how they do!

Pictures from the last couple of weeks

Reese is in gray sweats and black shirt, Sarah is in green sweats. We put on an All Comers Track Meet at the high school a couple of weeks ago. The kids had lots of fun. They both came home with 2nds, 3rds and participant ribbons. Reese really liked the long jump! He already has pretty good form! Last week was Vacation Bible School. I am always in charge of the games. I dread it each year but in the end it really is fun but exhausting! The kids really have fun. Sarah is enjoying having the neighbor's cows in the pasture again. She loves animals, not having to go feed them though! I have to really prod to get her out there to feed her pigs. But I just love this picture of her surrounded by the animals! That is actually the bull, he is really nice.
